Pillows

I mentioned before
that I had extra squares from my Irish Chain quilt
I thought it would be nice to try and make a few pillows

the fabric is a California Girl by Fig Tree,
jelly roll that I had from last summer

Irish Chain (16)

I started a while back to make an Irish Chain quilt

Then I changed my mind and I packed it away

I decided to dig it back out
only this time, I didn't want it as big as originally

The more I worked on this quilt
the More it became my favourite!!

See how nice my quilt shelf looks,
I am working on filling it up

I found a piece of white minky in the clearance bin at my local quilt shop,
It was just a touch too small, so I added a row
of postage stamps to it

I quilted it with straight lines from side to side
the whole size of the 9 patch blocks
and then added diagonal lines from corner to corner that cross the white blocks

( you can see I had fun with some of my extras, too,
the pillow in the back ground,
but that is another post)

the fabric is California Girl by Fig Tree

Sorry for the picture over load,
but
I LOVE THIS QUILT
Definitely my favorite!!! (so far)

I still have some left over 9 patches,
and I happen to have lots of fat quarters that coordinate
I am planning on making a queen sized Irish Chain
for my bed!!

Work in Progress - Impromtu

I am still working on my
Impromtu
from the quilt along

It moved off of my to-do quilt rack
and onto my dining room table
(that is where I do my quilting if the quilt is bigger than lap sized)

I wanted to so straight line quilting
I know most of the quilts I quilt myself are straight lined,
and usually they are done with a 1/4 inch from a seam line,
But I wanted to do lines across the whole thing.

Funny story
I decided I wanted straight lines, and of course
they would have to be the same distance apart.
I didn't want to use painters tape on a quilt this big,
nor did I want to draw out that many lines
...........
If only I had an attachment for my machine
..........
But surely my hubby could rig something up for me
Right?!?!
I asked him for some help,
Only to be told
"I can;t make something like that"
"just go get the part you need"
well we live in Rural Saskatchewan,
not to many Pfaff dealers on each street corner.

Last resort, check what the box of goodies that came with my machine has in it
Imagine my surprise when I found a seam guide!!

worked like a charm,
all my lines are 1.5 inch apart
and yes, that is a lotta lines!!

Now just to get some fabric for the binding,
I don't seem to have anything in my stash
that is "just right"

Lap Quilt (15)

I love my husband
Absolutely Love him to pieces

Except when we travel together in the summer

He like a cold vehicle
I don't

I freeze
by the time we get where ever we are going together
literally an ice cube

This year I came up with an idea
I would make myself a quilt
for on my lap while we travel!!

oh, and I got a new sewing chair too

I didn't use a pattern for this one,
Just went with how I wanted it

I used a few charm packs of Vintage Modern,
by Bonnie and Camille for Moda,
I had left over from my twin quilts I made last fall

(and wouldn't you know it, now that I have a lap quilt to travel,
we only went 1 place together this summer)

Happy Monday
