Mini Blossom in Progress

I am in love with Mini Quilts

ok ok

I love big quilts too

Love making them, planning them, starting them and finishing them
Love gifting them, I feel a quilt makes such a special gift

I have my sights set on my own craft room
someday in the future,
I am planning a mini quilt wall in my room too

I have a fee mini quilt patterns from Thimble Blossoms
and now Fig Tree and Co has made a few too

I pulled a few Tapestry Mini Charms
and went to work

Now isn't that the cutest!!!

they look so cute on my shelf

I have the top all finished up, and sandwiched ready for quilting

I have also started making the full sized version!!

A Quilt for ME (34)

I know many of us quilters
love to gift our quilts, love the joy of making others happy
But how many of us make a quilt for ourselves??

I picked up this bundle of goodness from The Quilt Patch
same place I got the purple and brown bundle and the Hopscotch pattern I used for Katies quilt

I like the pattern, and it was super easy and quick to make
but I decided I wanted my quilt a little bigger
So I did the math and figured out how many more fat quarters would be needs for a
6 x 7 block pattern, then decided for a few pops of colour

(thanks again for holding up my quilt dad)

I love a scrappy binding!!!

this quilt front in entirely made of flannel, and I used a deep red Fireside fleece for the back,
this baby is warm!!

I have already had to keep my eye on it,
mom tired to sneak it home with her, and my youngest son
keeps telling me it might end up in his room

At the beginning of the year I had a few quilting goals
I wanted to make a Triangle Quilt
I wanted to actually make a few quilts from the books I had collected
and I wanted to try my hand at Free Motion quilting

This was the first time I had done a whole quilt
just a nice easy big meandering

I am very happy with what I have accomplished so far this year!!

I can't wait to try napping with this one

The Library Project, May Update

I have fallen behind in my Library Projects,
not that I haven't been making quilts...

Does it found that I have still been adding to my Library
I picked up these new books

and then Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree and Co
made a few Mini quilt patterns, which I bought, made and loved
I really liked my Mini Blossom pattern
So I decided to pull out her book and make the full sized quilt

I have had these fat quarters for a while, not knowing what I was going to do with them,
Now I know!!

My first full sized Blossom block
these finish up around 20 inches square

I am in love with it already!!

I'm so lucky!!

At the start of last winter,
my hubby built me a quilt ladder

Then Christmas came along,
and I gifted my ladder to another quilter

Hubby promised me would make me another one
maybe even 2!!

As you can see, they are being built!!!

I am so excited!
1 will get stained and 1 will get painted white!!

I can't wait!!

Katies HopScotch Finished (33)

(thanks dad for holding up my quilt)

Remember this bundle of goodness??

I happened to be in The quilt Patch
back in February and seen this quilt on display there
I decided I could make it, it was a super easy pattern

Then when I was asked to make a quilt as a grad gift, and the recipient liked purple,
I knew that was going to be the quilt

I backed it with super soft Fireside fleece in the same dark purple
and I am really having a hard time letting this quilt go

Even my mom wanted it when she was here visiting a while back

(again, with the poor weather pictures, these colours just aren't the real deal)

I sure hope she likes it, and if not, I can give it a good home!!

My Swoon!!!

I made the Swoon for my husband
but my whole family seems to cuddle up with it
when ever it is available

I myself may have even napped with it

This is him trying to hide from having his picture taken

I have 3 blocks for a second Swoon already made, this one will live on our bed I am thinking

Sun Stripes Finished (32)

I started this quilt last summer
It isn't even that big, a good lap size
I have no excuses why it took so long

As I sit and post it it is raining
I am hoping that posting my sun drops quilt will help the weather

Originally the idea was for the coloured strips to all come from the same side,
like rain drops down a window
But I decided I didn't like how one side "heavy" it was
So I changed it up a bit

The baking is supper soft minky

and the scrappy binding made from left over Jelly Roll pieces

It will be gifted as a grad gift, I hope she likes it!!
