Frosty goes to the Blogger Quilt Festival

I'd like you meet Frosty

I had a thought last week,
that I would like to make seasonal
wall hangings for in my house.

Then on Friday,
I had to run to the city to pick up some stuff for the farm.
There happened to be a quilt show in the city at the same time,
they had a vendor mall at the show

I picked up this kit

I think he is SO cute with his red scarf and all

I really like the snowflake stars too.
Just like real snowflakes, each one is unique

My son asked, "mom how did you make those"
"wasn't it hard to figure out"

I didn't do too much for quilting
I used a darker turquoise so that it would stand out a bit
and just went around the outline of everything.

I need to get something to hang him on now
I have the spot picked out
and the wall hanging made
now just to get something to hang it on…

I am entering Frosty in the Wall Hanging category
of the Fall Bloggers Quilt Festival

Bloggers Quilt Festival Part 1

AmysCreativeSide

I know you have already seen this quilt
But I have decided to enter it in the Bloggers Quilt Festival

I picked up a Fat Quarter bundle of
Bohemian Festival by Lila Tueller
last spring while visiting a quilt shop in a small town
I was drawn to all the bright fun colours

The bundle sat on my shelf for a little while,
until one day I came across a Quilt Along
using the Impromtu pattern
I figured this was the perfect way to show off all of these fun prints in this fabric line

I worked away at this quilt over the summer

Then put it away for a while,
you know how it is, life gets in the way sometimes

brought it back out in the fall

created this backing for it

Which is a giant disappearing 9 patch from the front

then put it to the side again
........

Having a rainy weekend during harvest here on the farm
I dug it out again and started to quilt it
I tried my had at 1.5 inch straight lines,
I like how it turned out and am pretty happy with myself!!

Auditioned many colors for the binding, deciding that hot pink would look best

I linked my quilt up with 2 weekly linky parties, only to go back the next week and see they had both picked MY QUILT to show case in their favourites!!!

SO now I have decided to enter this quilt in the bloggers quilt festival
this is my first entry ever!!!

Impromtu (17)

It's all finished

every part of it

Impromtu

(this is where I seriously wished I had noticed my screw up, before it was all quilted,
but it is my piece of art, none other like it)

For the backing,
I used flannel fabric and
 pieced to match the front

I am having fun adding special touches to the quilt backs

after trying many different colours by the quilt, I decided on hot pink for the binding,
I love how it turned out, I made the right call on that one

This quilt lives on the bed in my spare room

Happy Tuesday

Welcome to the Dark Side

the 2013 crop is officially all in the bins!!!

Harvest is complete!!!

I love harvest, almost my favorite time of year!

It is Thanksgiving Weekend here in Canada
My parents have been here for a visit,
always nice to have them here!

Hubby went hunting,
he got drawn to hunt Moose this year
so him and the Big Dude have gone off hunting for the day
...which means...

I get a day to do what ever I want

Sleep In
NO COOKING
sewing

or any other thing I want

I picked out this pile of fabric,
purpose in mind

I like to watch tv shows or listen to music while I sew
today is was Kelly Clarkson

this song came on just as I was finishing up the quilt top
Perfect timing
I am big believer of things happening for a reason

Here is Dark Side

Happy Sunday
Happy Thanksgiving

Work in progress-Central Park & Sun Drops

I spent the day Sunday doing all kinds of fall yard work. Drained the pool and put it away, pulled the dead flowers out of the pots, put all the deck furniture away.

Then I came inside and cleaned my sewing room,
which also doubles as my guest room.

Started quilting my daughters quilt that she is making for a gift,
until I ran out of grey thread

Finished up the borders on my Central Park quilt

So it has now moved out of my project containers and onto my finished tops quilt rack!!!

******************

Then I pulled out my strips from my Sun Drops top that I started a while back. The whole while there has been something bothering me about this quilt, it was bothering my brain, it was too 'heavy' on one side (all the colored strips were supposed to run along one side and all the white along the other)

My cousin sent my a pattern for a similar quilt but the strips alternate sides. I went to my design wall and switched every second strip around.  Much better, now I have a happy brain

I’ve slowed my quilt roll this year,  no longer to do feel the need to make a quilt, start to finish in 1 day,  I’m ok if it takes a li...
