The Library Project Comes to an end

I am going to bring back my first post, so we can see how well I did
the original post will be in Red

I am joining Adrienne at Chezzetcook Modern Quilts

She is hosting a year long quilt along, to try and get us
actually making quilts with the patterns in quilt books we buy.

I have many books, many patterns that are on my to-do list
or on my "maybe someday" list

This isn't all my books either

This quilt along has got me moving
I have already got a big jump on my Vintage quilt,
more about that in the next day or 2

First up

I will be making the Vintage quilt by Camille Roskelly

I did finish this quilt in February, not sure why I didn't link it up then
here is that post

From there, and in no particular order...

I am going to make Butterfly Kisses,
into a wall hanging for my summer entry way
ok, so I never did make the Butterfly Kissed quilt or the Strawberry Fields one below

This layer cake quilt for my sister
I did actually make a quilt for my sister, but she choose something different

The Plus quilt for a grad gift!
again I did make 3 quilts as grad gift, but not the Plus quilt

I did link up another quilt from Camilles Book

again from Simply Retro

The Dwell quilt, again I will be making this one into a wall hanging
for my entry way

I did make this one Dwell

I have seen this book ALL over the quilt blog land in the last few weeks,
Love the sampler quilt, going to attempt one this year!!

Sadly this book never even made it off the shelf.
I did link a few other projects though

I would like to Thank Adrienne for being a wonderful host,
and for inspiring me to actually make some of the patterns in the books I buy

I still plan to keep using my books and the patterns in them
Happy Quilting

Happy Friday
Stay warm

Chevron Snowflake (40)

Seems like it has been so long since I finished a quilt
right now as I type there are 2 tops hanging on the design wall waiting for backing

I will start with an apology
I live in Saskatchewan Canada
It looks great out my window, all beautiful and white,
snow sparkling in the sunshine,
a slight wind blowing
making the temperature -32

which in my language is too darn cold for outdoor pictures!!!

I posted about making this Chevron Snowflake quilt
from the Love Patchwork and Quilting Magazine

well its all finished!!!

This was my first time working with diamond pieces
I think it turned out great

I quilted it on my home machine with squiggly lines (is that a word??)

I used a rainbow thread in my bobbin, for a bit of colour on the white fleece backing

And then used the left over pieces for a rainbow scrappy binding

For now it lives in the living room,
I am not sure if it will become a seasonal quilt or not

again sorry for the poor pictures

Thanks for stopping by
Happy Saturday!!

Little Blue House

Hi

A few weeks ago I painted a few of the wall in my living room,
the wall behind our couch where our family pictures hang
and the wall where the fireplace is

while I was redecorating
I came across this picture on Instagram

I loved what she had done with one of the little mini houses
from Camille Roskelly's Mini Dwell pattern.

I asked for permission to copy her idea,
and she said "go ahead"

I searched through my scraps, wanting navy blue in there because
our house is navy blue

Didn't take long, and I had this little cutie

I sent a picture to my friend
who commented that they would make cute little red barns

SO.....
I set out to make a cute set of little red barn coasters

aren't they cute??

After a run to the city I was able to frame my Little Blue House
which now sits of the end table in my living room
and I love it!!

Just thought I would share a picture of my fireplace wall too
Love the shade of blue, and don't my quilts look great there too

Thanks for stopping by!!

Christmas Cards

It is that time of the year again
Time to make Christmas cards for my sister in law
and I made a few for my daughter this year as well

The Santa was colours with Stampin Up Blendabilites markers
great markers and so easy to use, fun too

This one is hard to tell, but the white background layer is simmer paper

and a fun box made with the Stampin Up gift box punch board

all of these cards were made using Stampin Up products

I made 4 of each variety, and then mixed them up for both the girls
to have a good mix of cards

Now I still have to make my own

Chevron Snowflake IN Process

Hello and Welcome to my farm in Saskatchewan
I'm Conni

A wife to an amazing man, a mother to 3 amazing children,
we farm on a 5th generation farm, both grain and cattle

I love to read, quilt and paper craft

I like to spend some time each night
browsing Pinterest

Usually Quilts
all kinds of quilts
or cards, right now its Christmas Cards

I came across this quilt
in the Love Patchwork and Quilting Magazine
(I just let my subscription go to this magazine of course)
because it is from the UK I get it digitally on the iPad

I showed the picture to my hubby
he said "now that is an awesome quilt"
he has never said anything besides "nice" or "cool"

So I figured I had better make this quilt

I made a trip through Saskatoon last week and stopped at Periwinkle Quilting
they have a great selection of fat quarters!!

So I picked up the colours I needed

Sunday I was able to get to the craft room

add up craft room + Christmas Music= very happy me!!

I was able to get all my white fabric cut ready to go

Then I paused to take a road trip with my hubby to haul some cows to the auction
Monday I was back in the craft room!!

I won't bore you with all the pictures I took, lol

end result!!

I love it!!
This was my first time sewing with 45 degree diamonds
like the ones for a Lonestar quilt

I have it all sandwiched up and ready to be quilted

I have a few other project I will be posting in the next few days so be sure to stop back

Happy Thursday

Colorful Hugs and Kisses

It is that time of year again
the sky seems to always be grey
the clouds are always present
the days are shorter
:( :( :(

Makes it SO hard to take a good picture

I also have to confess...
I have been dealing with a lot of personal issues
making it very hard to be creative.
I have gone into my craft room and simply sat for hours, doing nothing
not wanting to make anything.
Feeling "why bother, nobody would care if I did or not"

I am working on getting better
I am having good days and bad

ANYWHOOOOO

A while back I seen this amazing pattern from Fig Tree and Co
I have had it on top of the pile since I bought it
I even have the very fabric that they used for the pattern pictures
but like I said, my heart wasn't it in

Then I happened to have a thought,
"what if I use different fabric"
and I ran with it

Cut all my fabric and set out chain piecing...

Using Simply Style fabric by V & Co

I sewed

and sewed

and sewed

and ended up with a great little piles of X's

the race was on, which would run out first, my thread or my pile of fabric
the pile was gone, and I still had a little thread, phew

The end result

This amazing top!!

I have to admit though, it is still up on the design wall
I am trying to decide weather to add a border or not...

Happy Sunday

Swirling Medalion

I haven't been sewing too much as of late, too much other schtuff going on in my life right now.

I did decide to do something beside just sit and stare in my sewing room a few weeks ago

I pulled out the Quilting Modern book I received last Christmas

I really love the Supernova Quilt in the book, but was intimidated by it

So I decided to make the mini version, Swirling Medalion

It was actually much easier than I thought it would be, it was also my first time at lining half square triangles in a diamonds shape like so

Sadly it is still just up on the design wall, again going to blame the schtuff going on in my head!!

This is my share for the October Library Project Report

Thanks for stopping by
Happy Thursday!!

The Library Project September

WOW
September already
passed the middle of September even!!

I picked the Blossom quilt from
With Fabric and Thread
by Joanna Figeroa
after making the Mini Blossom

a fun easy pattern

I have the top finished, but I am unsure about the quilting,
not sure if I want to do it
and if I do, what do I do, straight line or free motion
or do I send it out to a Long Arm quilter...

So for now this top sits

Thanks for stopping by
Happy Friday

Heart Strings (39)

This quilt seriously pulls at my heart strings
and has since I first put it up on my design wall

This is a quilt for my daughter
She has moved out on her own this year
all grown up and off to college.

We bought her a new bedroom suite
and new duvet and cover
The cover has the navys and the teals
that are in this quilt

We started picking up fat quarters in those colours to make her a quilt
and I added a few neutrals to mix

I made the Turning Twenty pattern again,
same as my last quilt

Like I said last time, such a quick easy pattern

When I was a girls growing up my grandma made all kinds
of mixed up patchwork quilts

When I had all my blocks together and put them up on my design wall
my heart did a flip,  I had created a grandma quilt

(we were fighting a slight wind taking these pictures)

When I had the quilt top together I sent a picture
to my mom, and she said "wow, you made a grandma quilt!"

I sent a picture to my Sister in law
She said "that looks just like a grandma quilt"

SO I wasn't the only one who thought that

This is special, a quilt for my daughter, that has a special piece of my grandma

I even used a floral flannel backing, just like grandma used to!!

Now if I could just convince my daughter to let me keep this quilt!!

This quilt is 85x85
Free Motion Quilted by me!

Gramma quilt

I’ve slowed my quilt roll this year,  no longer to do feel the need to make a quilt, start to finish in 1 day,  I’m ok if it takes a li...
